I’m so happy you’re here today for this solo episode, where I’ll dive into a topic that’s deeply personal and transformative for me—Food and how it affects our body’s well-being. Specifically, I want to discuss my journey in cutting out dairy from my diet and the incredible impact it has had on my life.

A Lifelong Struggle with Dairy For as long as I can remember, dairy has been a HUGE part of my life—cheese, butter, ice cream, the whole works. And for as long as I can remember, dairy has made me feel awful. My stomach would always be upset, leaving me uncomfortable, bloated, and generally feeling like crap. Yet, I continued to indulge, unable to imagine my life without it.

The Turning Point It wasn’t until a vacation in St. Martin that everything changed. After indulging in a massive charcuterie board filled with all sorts of rich, French dairy products, I found myself in unbearable pain. That night was a breaking point for me. I decided I couldn’t continue living like this.

The Journey Begins I read somewhere that people with dairy intolerances sometimes can tolerate goat cheese, so in our vacation desperation, my husband Colby and I found some goat cheese in a French grocery store. I decided to cut out all other dairy products, except for goat cheese, and the results were remarkable. I felt better almost immediately.

The Challenges and Triumphs When we returned home, I reintroduced small amounts of dairy (like ranch dressing and milk in my coffee) into my diet. To my disappointment, I felt sick again. That’s when I realized that even small amounts of dairy were detrimental to my health. I had to cut it out completely.
Since then, my journey has been eye-opening. I discovered the Fairlife brand, which offers dairy products that don’t upset my stomach. However, eating out became complicated. I had to be “that person” who asks for a special menu due to dietary restrictions, which is something I found quite embarrassing at first. My husband, Colby, encouraged me to think of it like any other food allergy—it’s important to take care of myself, even if it means standing out a bit.

The Results: A New Me Today, it’s been nearly three years without dairy, and the transformation has been incredible: -Reduced Inflammation: My joints no longer ache, and my skin looks better. – Increased Comfort: My clothes fit better, and I feel more comfortable in them. – Improved Digestive Health: My stomach no longer hurts, which is a relief I never thought I’d experience.

The Transformation It’s been a few years now since I cut out dairy, and the changes are undeniable. My body feels different—better, lighter, more energetic. My face looks clearer, my joints hurt less, and my overall sense of well-being has drastically improved. While eliminating dairy required significant adjustments, the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences.

Your Journey to Wellness I share my story not to tell you to cut out dairy specifically, but to encourage you to pay attention to how different foods make you feel. If you’re walking around feeling tired, bloated, or just not your best, it might be worth exploring what foods could be contributing to your discomfort. Food can be powerful—it can either nurture us or weigh us down. Start by paying attention to how you feel after eating certain foods and consider making small changes. You don’t need to overhaul your diet overnight. Maybe cut back on one food that you suspect might be causing issues and see how you feel. If you notice improvements, you might be motivated to make bigger changes over time. Remember, it’s about finding what works for you and helps you feel your best. If my story plants a seed of curiosity, I hope it encourages you to take steps towards feeling better.
