EP:39 | Ashley Garcia – "Turning Trauma into Triumph: A Story of Strength and Transformation" – The Hype Squad
Welcome back, Hype Squad!
This week on The Hype Squad Podcast, we have an inspiring story to share with you all. I’m thrilled to welcome Ashley Garcia, a certified somatic practitioner, sex and relationship coach, and NLP expert. Ashley’s journey is one of resilience and transformation, and I’m excited to delve into the experiences that have shaped her into the incredible person she is today.
A Journey of Resilience and Healing
Ashley was once an honor roll student and a scholarship athlete with dreams of a legal career. However, she faced a life-altering challenge—a four-year abusive relationship that brought about isolation, depression, and a loss of confidence. Despite these hardships, Ashley’s journey of resilience and rebuilding profoundly transformed her life.
After returning to school and working in law, Ashley found healing alongside her supportive husband, Brian. Following a traumatic birth experience with her son, Beau, she embarked on a transformative path of trauma and somatic work, bridging mind and body healing. Today, she empowers women and couples to find safe, vulnerable spaces for self-discovery and connection.
The Importance of Somatic Work
Ashley’s experience with her son Beau was a significant turning point. What should have been an emergency C-section became a vacuum delivery, causing numerous complications. Beau’s journey included time in the NICU and overcoming potential diagnoses like cerebral palsy and autism. Throughout this challenging time, Ashley and Brian navigated their roles as parents with immense grace and teamwork, often tapping in and out to support each other.
This journey led Ashley to delve deeply into somatic work, which became instrumental in Beau’s healing. By engaging the body in movement, such as using a trampoline or play therapy, Ashley helped Beau reconnect with his body and emotions. This work resulted in profound improvements and instilled the importance of healing through the body as a family’s cornerstone.
Supporting vs. Fixing and Operating from Heart, Not Hurt
A significant part of Ashley’s coaching revolves around the concepts of support versus fixing and operating from heart, not hurt. In relationships, it’s crucial to discern if your partner needs support or a solution. Sometimes a listening ear is worth a thousand solutions, and asking how you can support, rather than assuming you know best, can deepen connections.
Operating from the heart means approaching life’s ups and downs with curiosity and openness rather than defensive reactions. It involves understanding our triggers, meeting them with grace, and moving beyond patterns that no longer serve us.
Cultivating Sacred Sensuality
At the heart of Ashley’s work is teaching others to reconnect with their bodies through sacred sensuality. By tapping into this aspect, you can slow down, savor the present, and experience life more fully. Her guidebook on sacred sensuality walks you through engaging all five senses, allowing you to develop a deeper connection with yourself and the world around you.
Celebrating Our Journey Together
Before wrapping up our discussion, I asked Ashley to share her “hype list,” a chance to brag and be full of ourselves as we celebrate our achievements. Ashley beautifully highlighted her intuition, which has been her guiding light through challenges and triumphs, allowing her to create spaces for healing and connection.
Ashley’s story underscores the power of resilience, teamwork, and heart-centered living. Whether you’re facing life’s challenges or simply seeking to deepen your connections with others, her journey offers insights and tools that can inspire us all.
Thank you, Ashley, for sharing your incredible journey with us today. As always, hype squad, be kind to yourselves, stay hyped, and remember that growth often comes from navigating through the shadows.
With so much love,
Charli
